Summary

In the delightful comedy As You Like It, witty words and mistaken identity play out, subverting the traditional rules of romance, as young lovers meet in the forest of Arden. Gender roles, nature and politics are confused to reflect how bewildering yet utterly pleasurable life can be.

The Bold Company (BoldCo) is a free educational program for 55+ Cape Cod residents wanting to learn the craft of acting through a fun and friendly rehearsal and production process. BoldCo is for those with little to no experience but lots of enthusiasm, designed to open the door for non-actors into the many benefits gained from a life in the arts. Now in its third year, we are thrilled to have over 20 members from across the Cape participating in this amazing free program.

Thank you to the following organizations and individuals for their generous support of our Education programs:

The Cape Cod Foundation, Robert & Margery Glovin and The Samuel W. and Jacob I. Brier Charitable Fund, the John K. & Thirza F. Davenport Foundation, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, Dan Wolf & Heidi Schuetz and Michele & Gary Clarke.

Cast

Dennis
X

Barbara Bradley (Dennis/Lord 1 of Court) joined BoldCo because she has never been this Bold or this Old! She is a long time supporter of Cape Rep and is delighted to be on stage. Barbara is retired, rides her bike, plays pickle ball, and volunteers for Wild Care and Audubon turtle stranding rescue.

Oliver
X

Joan Butterton (Oliver) has spent the past year looking forward to returning to the Cape Rep stage for this, her second BoldCo season. All the world may be a stage, but this one is truly special thanks to the magic made by Julie Allen Hamilton, Tori Mondello, and all the rest of the amazing staff, crew, and cast. “If you will know of me— what man I am, and how and why and where” this story unfolds, then sit back and enjoy the show!

Orlando
X

Connie Chan (Orlando) is delighted to be part of BoldCo for a second time. She has had some great times with such an enthusiastic group of actors. She wants to express her gratitude to Julie and Tori and the staff and crew at Cape Rep for the opportunity to challenge herself in this role and to learn to love Shakespeare. She also thanks MJ, her friends, and her pups, all of whom have spent many hours patiently listening to and helping her to learn her lines.

2nd Brother
X

Karen Colucci (2nd Brother/Lord 3 of Court) is thrilled to be making her first appearance on the stage. Representing clients in court throughout the Commonwealth for the past 35 years certainly involved “theatrics’ to some extent, but if all’s well that ends well, she hopes to be part of the BoldCo family for many years to come.

Touchstone
X

Ed Coppola (Touchstone) has lived in Brewster with his wife, Jackie, for twenty seven years. This is his third year with BoldCo. He has been acting for sixteen years and still loves it at 82 years young. Thank you Julie!

Silvia
X

Melissa Davey (Silvia) Not having prior acting experience, Melissa joined BoldCo in its first year of 2022, out of sheer curiosity for learning the nail-biting art of live stage theatre. Having taken a break in 2023, she is thrilled to be back again this year. She naively thought it would be a tiny bit easier the second time around, until it was announced that BoldCo would be performing Shakespeare…something she never thought she’d ever do. Melissa thanks Julie, Tori, Alison, Chelsey and Robin for their patience, expertise, creative vision, and Shakespearian nerdiness, as well as Cape Rep Theatre for offering this transformative educational program.

Adam
X

Deer Derick (Adam) has been a full-time resident of Cape Cod for over 20 years. She is grateful to be experimenting with “growing bolder, not older” in her first season of the Bold Company. She delights in taking new risks with such a fun cast of characters.

Corin
X

Roz Diamond (Corin) spent her urban planning career in NY and NJ before retiring to live on the Cape. Always intrigued by the phenomenon of gut learning that occurs at live theater performances, Roz sought out the BoldCo when the opportunity arose to participate in that experience from the other side of the lights. She is grateful to Cape Rep for including her in this, her second show, and for having met, and worked with, an incredible group of Cape Cod “(B)old” thespians.

Celia
X

Marcia Fredlich (Celia) has had the letters A-C-T in the same sentence as her name many times–acting up, acting out, action, activist to name a few. Then someone suggests acting and here she is. She has had an evolving interest in acting after falling in love with storytelling, attending many story slams, and telling a few stories herself. This is Marcia’s second play with Bold Co. She never realized how interesting and challenging being in a production like this would be. A big shout out to the wonderful staff from the Cape Rep BoldCo who have guided and mentored us and made this such a fun and exciting learning experience.

William
X

Ray Glaser (William/Lord 2 of Arden) retired and living the good life in Brewster, saw the BoldCo promo and the “while we’re young“ bell rang ~ loudly! An opportunity to be back on stage with direction from the pros at his friendly neighborhood theater was not to be missed and a chance to continue acting – which truthfully is as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. Ray got the sand in his shoes way back, has been on Cape for over 50 years and considers himself very fortunate to have been able to live the entrepreneurial dream of business ownership while enjoying the best of the Cape’s lifestyle.

Rosalind
X

Laurie Goldman (Rosalind) is thrilled to be returning to BoldCo for a third season. She regards it an extraordinary pleasure to attempt channeling the spirit of a randy 16 year old girl the very same month she received her first Medicare card in the mail. Laurie loves the sheer audacious adventure that is BoldCo, and is so grateful she gets to share this experience with such a wonderful group of people. Laurie has lived on the Cape for decades, during which time she has been a whale researcher, science journalist, children’s book author and potter. Thank you Julie Hamilton and Cape Rep for this opportunity to do something so terrifying and yet so wonderful.

Hymen
X

Michael Harnett (Hymen/Lord 2 of Court) is performing on stage for the third time and is very excited to be part of Cape Rep’s BoldCo. A big shout out to Cape Reps professional staff from their directors, stage managers and production staff to the set/lighting designers and set builders. What they can do with an amateur crew of actors is truly amazing. When he is off stage Michael volunteers in several educational programs with the Nauset Light Preservation Society, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History and at the Cape Cod National Sea Shore. He is also active with several Eastham committees and enjoys playing Pickle ball, hiking, woodcarving and walking with the dog.

Jacques
X

Richard Leo Jacobs (Jacques) is delighted to make his stage debut with Cape Rep. Recently retired from the world of psychology, he now resides permanently on Cape Cod. In his life he has played many parts: puppeteer, t’ai chi student, tea ceremony host, photographer, repairer of pottery. “Now in my sixth scene,” quoth he, “I am beginning a second childhood, one that is far better than the first.” Special thanks to my husband, Carl, for his support of all my rebirths.

Audrey
X

Rhonda Litwinowich (Audrey) keeps herself busy as a DJ for WOMR, working in her pottery studio and maintaining her honey bee hives. Cape Rep’s BoldCo has provided a different kind of opportunity to learn from dedicated professionals about theater performance. After being a part of BoldCo’s first production, Tiny Beautiful Things, and their second production Everybody, Rhonda is so happy to continue the journey playing the part of Audrey in As You Like It. She would like to thank her husband Steve for his enthusiastic line coaching.

Frederick
X

Maggie MacLeay (Duke Frederick) is pleased to be in this latest BoldCo production. She has been a member of VetCo as well as BoldCo since their inception. Maggie lives in Orleans. Playing someone with anger issues is a dream come true.

Sir Oliver Martext
X

Linda Nidle (Sir Oliver Martext/Lord of Arden) Hard to believe it’s my third year with BoldCo. What an adventure it has been! YEAR #1: I knew nothing, but cast member Richard ( and so many others) had my back. YEAR #2: My first experience with truly magical moments on stage—connecting with scene partners Lori and Sheila. Honestly, there’s nothing like it! YEAR #3: Now I know this—every one of those magical moments was made possible by the BoldCo cast and the entire CR family—Julie, Tori, Chelsey, Alison, Robin, Mo, Janine, and the invisible elves banging away in the shop. And all of you filling the seats—Thank you for laughing and clapping and supporting Cape Rep.

Duke Senior
X

Pam North (Duke Senior) is thrilled to be in her third BoldCo performance. Tackling As You Like It with the exceptionally brave and enthusiastic cast has been possible only through the skillful and supportive direction of the amazing Julie Allen Hamilton. Talented Stage Manager Tori Mondello unwaveringly provides focus and enthusiasm when we need it most. Pam would like to dedicate her performance to her late Aunt Wendy who took Pam to her first Shakespeare play at the tender age of nine and instilled in her a lifelong love of his work.

Amiens
X

Bobby Parr (Amiens) was born in Cambridge, Ma in 1958. He lived there until just before he turned 8 when he and his family moved to Harwich. He graduated Cape Cod Tech in 1976 and joined the U. S. Navy in October of that year. His 20 year career in the Navy took him around the world. He retired in 1997 as a Chief Petty Officer. He has six children and two grandchildren and is married to Lynne Zalesak and they have a doggie, Bailey. Bobby performed in Suffer A Witch and The Little Mermaid with The Company Onstage in Houston, TX and also in Everybody with Cape Rep’s BoldCo. He is also a disabled veteran.

Le Beau
X

R. Andrew Pelletier (Monsieur LeBeau) after a lengthy hiatus from theatrical production, “Drew” is ecstatic to return to the theater with BoldCo. Half a lifetime ago he worked for two years with the stage crew at Arizona State University for ASU’s Lyric Opera Theater. Since then there has been 40 years of lawyering in and around East Harwich and Milton; 30 years of happy marriage and kids; and now, two joyful months of luxuriously deep breaths of fresh air with the BoldCo. Say Yes! Be Bold!

Charles
X

Ellen Whalen (Charles/Lord of Arden) has reviewed over 300 plays on the Cape; however, this is her first time on stage. Professionally, she loves helping local students navigate the complex world of college admissions through her company, BestFitCollegeCoaching.com. She wants to thank Julie, Tori, and her fellow cast members for their endless encouragement and support, along with her two daughters, who have graced many Cape Cod stages, for inspiring her to try acting.

Lord 1
X

Bob Williamson (Lord 1 of Arden) is enjoying his return to Bold Co. after playing in last year’s production of Everybody. Previous acting forays include multiple roles in ‘A Childs Christmas in Wales” at Eventide Theatre and two shows at The Academy Playhouse in Orleans in the last century. I remain very grateful for the able direction offered us at Cape Rep.

Pheobe
X

Lynne Zalesak (Phoebe) is making her Bold Company debut this year. Lynne grew up in Harwich and taught eighth grade US History for thirty-three years in Houston, TX and where she was also involved with the community theater Company OnStage. After getting reacquainted with her future husband at her 40th high school reunion, she returned home to Harwich where she lives with her husband Bobby and her four legged child Bailey.
