VetCo Is Building!
Are you a Veteran interested in learning more about theater? Are you looking for a fun and creative outlet that gets you out of the house once a week? Want to learn something new? Possibilities include:
- Creative Writing for Veterans: Learn the fundamentals of writing for the theater through a monologue, scene or short play. Taught by Art Devine
- Acting Classes for Veterans: Meet once a week for 8 weeks in this fun, pressure-free introduction to acting. Taught by Cape Rep professional artists.
- Play-Going Group for Veterans: We’ll go see theater together several times a year, enjoy each other’s company and talk about the show we attend.
The Veterans Company is a free program open to any Veteran eager to learn more about the possibilities of theater. Founded by Cape Rep Associate Artist and Vietnam Veteran Art Devine, VetCo offers free professional training in all aspects of theater arts and has the potential to open new doors to a life in the arts for Cape vets. Devine came to the theater many years after his service in the Army and discovered a vocation and a professional career as an actor, director, playwright, scenic carpenter and teacher. He says the theater, “helped keep me strong and focused on the positive side of living,” and he hopes to share that with other veterans.
