This fresh new 2010 Obie Award winning comedy premiered at Playwrights Horizons and was extended twice by popular demand. Four very different people from a small Vermont town enroll in Marty Kreisberg’s acting class. As Marty engages these strangers in seemingly innocent theater games, the drama emerges from the relationships they discover along the way. The New York Times called it “absorbing, unblinking and sharply funny”


Cara Gerardi (Lauren)

played in The Buddy Holly Story, Frog Prince of Spamalot, Peter Pan and Wendy, Snow Queen (Harwich Junior Theatre), andDark of the Moon (Cotuit Center for the Arts). For Cape Rep Theatre she was Stage Manager for Speech and Debate, Assistant Stage Manager / Sound Board Op for The Drowsy Chaperone, and Stage Crew for Eurydice. Training: Harwich Junior Theatre.

Cleo Zani (James)

majored in performing arts at Goddard College, VT, and apprenticed with Kenyon Martin’s National Mime Theater in Boston during the early 1970’s. Some of his recent appearances are The Wizard of Oz, Eurydice, Wintertime, A Class Act, Red Herring, Look Homeward Angel (Cape Rep Theatre), Watch on the Rhine, The Miser (Eventide Arts), Apartment 3A, Woman in Black, Daddy’s Dyin’- Who’s Got the Will? (Woods Hole Theater Company),Nunsense, Amen (Falmouth Theater Guild), and Seascape (Cotuit Center for the Arts).

Ian Ryan (Schultz)

last appeared at Cape Rep in Our Contry’s Good in 2009. He played Hiram Suslack in Winter Wheat, was a member of the ensemble cast of Comic Potential, played George Denver in All My Sons, and appeared as Philly Cullen in Playboy of the Western World (Cape Rep Theatre). Ian continues to be active in local theater as a member of Cape Rep Company and the Cape Cod Actor’s Workshop.

Kira McCarthy (Theresa)

is having her Cape Rep acting debut! She was last seen as Catherine in A View From the Bridge at the Gulfshore Playhouse in Florida. Other credits include Abigail in The Crucible (Brave New World Repertory Theater, a site-specific production at the old stone house in Brooklyn),Uncle Sam I Am, I Will, and The Late Night Cabaret (Williamstown Theater Festival/Workshop.) TV & Film credits include the pilot episode of Start-Up(Halogen TV network, Plywood Pictures), As the World Turns, The Loop(independent short), and Parade (Columbia MFA Thesis). Education: NYU Tisch at the Stella Adler Studio, B.F.A. in Theater and English Literature.

Vicki Summers (Marty)

has been involved in theatre since high school, playing in Bus Stop, Seascape, Hold Me, and Little Shop of Horrors. In 1983-84, She performed original works with the nationally-touring deaf and hearing theatrical troupe “Sunshine Too.” For Cape Rep Theatre, credits include Felicia Lipshitz inClass Act, Emma Goldman in Ragtime, Red Herring, Elvira in Blithe Spirit, Flora in The Rose Tattoo, Amanda in The Glass Menagerie, Cass in Wonder of the World, Yvonne in Sunday in the Park with George, Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire, Sara Stone in No Way to Treat a Lady, Aurora in Kiss of the Spider Woman, Louisa in Nine, Molly in Molly Sweeney, Mrs. Roby in Xingu and Other Stories, Irene in Light Up the Sky, Elsa in The Road to Mecca, and Abigail Adams in The Distance Between Us. Also for Cape Rep, she performed in several musical revues and developed and performed a one-woman show for children, Piggy Tales.
