Summary

Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic show featuring your favorite bubbly yellow sponge and all his hilarious friends! When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his company must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. With an incredible score by a dizzying array of pop royalty including Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Panic at the Disco and David Bowie, The SpongeBob Musical is nonstop toe-tapping fun for the whole family. The Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) Edition of THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL was developed by The Coterie Theatre, Kansas City, MO in association with Nickelodeon and Concord Theatricals. The TYA Edition received its world premiere production at The Coterie Theatre in November 2021.

This is Emily’s first time playing a sentient computer! She is thrilled to spend the summer in Bikini Bottom with her friends. Emily loves chocolate ice cream, the color orange, and roller skating.

Holly began working in the Cape Rep Outdoor Children’s Theater in 2002, and in that time she has written, directed, or performed in 17 productions for kids and kids-at-heart. Creating magic with her best friends in the woods is her favorite part of every summer! Holly also loves camping, cats, and coldbrew coffee – and alliteration!

This is Ben’s third kids show at Cape Rep! He is a music teacher as well as a theatre musician, and he enjoys playing guitar!

Ryan McGettigan (Scenic Design) Ryan is a Houston-based scenic designer of theater, opera, and dance working across the country and Europe. He is the Resident Designer at Cape Rep Theatre, where he has designed over 25 sets, as well as a Company Artist with Prague Shakespeare Company and the Classical Theatre Company of Houston. Regional Credits: Theatre under the Stars, Stages Repertory Theatre, Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Shakespeare & Company, Cape Rep, Abilene Shakespeare Festival, Legacy Theatre, Prague Shakespeare Company. Opera and Dance: Glimmerglass Festival, New Orleans Opera, Opera San Jose, HGOco, Open Dance Project, and the Houston Ballet.

Robin McLaughlin (Costume Design) When Robin was 5 someone asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, “A designer,” she said, and she has been sewing and creating ever since. Moving to Southern California at 21, Robin started her career as a costumer in film when there were 3 networks and it was TV vs film. After 2 years in Australia and following the birth of her daughter Leanne, they relocated to Cape Cod, where Robin has worked as an acclaimed costume designer for theaters across the Cape and Islands for the last 25 years.

Stage Manager

Brielle  is a rising senior and classics major at Hamilton College. She is so excited to be back at Cape Rep this summer working with this amazing cast, crew, and staff. When she isn’t stage managing, you can find her baking, hiking, and hanging out with her two cats, Otis and Weston.
