Summary

Cape Rep presents the East Coast premiere of Tibet Through The Red Box, by David Henry Hwang. Peter is 12 years old and lives in Czechoslovakia. It is 1951 and his father is sent by the Russian government to film the Chinese building a road into Tibet. During his three-year absence, father and son try to connect across space and time. An adaptation of a true story by Peter Sis, the play is an infusion of the sights and sounds of Tibet, with live music, folk tale, costume and tradition — a truly magical journey.

Cape Rep opens a Red Box of wonders

“Tibet Through the Red Box is a gorgeous and magical show. It is at once powerful and delicate. It speaks to the very great and very small moments of our lives. It is a performance not to be missed.” – The Barnstable Patriot
