Summary
We are honored to produce the world premiere of Art Devine’s latest play. In this compelling story of female aviators set in the United States between the World Wars, Art explores themes of race and gender with a smart, independent, and passionate protagonist, who “just wants to fly.” As in his previous plays, 9-Ball and Winter Wheat, Art challenges us to think about our country in a new way, through a tale that is provocative, funny, and wholly original. Come welcome the season with this new work by one of our most respected local artists

Reviews
Bottom of the Sky flies high
“In a time where entertainment dollars are doled out judiciously by the theatergoing public, an unknown play might not draw the same crowds as one with name recognition. That would be a mistake with this one. Seeing a play right out of the wrapper is exciting stuff, especially when it is addressed with the high production values that Devine and his creative team and cast bring to the table.” – Barnstable Patriot
‘The Bottom of the Sky’ soars
“Imagine a play that takes on the issues of racism and sexism, and throws in a commentary on the practice of eugenics as well. It is enough subject matter to inspire three plays, and yet Cape Rep’s world premier production of “The Bottom of the Sky” blends these disparate elements into a singular narrative that is as compelling as it is seamlessly complex.” – Cape Cod Times
