Summary
Clifford Glimmer tells the story of his father, Gene, and his fellow “side men” – musicians’ musicians, versatile trumpet and horn players who could jam with the greats, blow you away with their solos and lived for “the gig,” no matter what was sacrificed. Experience the rise and decline of New York jazz through an intimate look at the men who lived the music. Winner of the 1999 Tony Award for Best Play, Side Man is a beautiful, soulful story steeped in the love of that uniquely American art form, jazz.
