Summary

Peter and Rita meet and are instantly soulmates. But when a mysterious old man shows up at their wedding, the explosive power of a simple kiss triggers a journey about love, life and making the most of the time we are given. As the songs says, “Although it’s just a simple melody….You could turn it to a symphony” —winner of the Obie award for Best New Play, Tony nominee for Best Play and Pulizer Prize finalist.

Seton Brown* (Peter) last performed for Cape Rep as Demetrius in Rock the Bard! He holds an MFA in Acting from The American Conservatory Theater and a BA in Theater from Wittenberg University. Recent Credits include Joey in Mr. Irresistible (Cat Fights & Shoulder Pads); Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Mortal Folly Theatre); and Jimmy et al in Almost, Maine (Barnstormers Theatre). Seton is a member of Actors’ Equity Association. He would like to thank his wife Chelsey for always believing in him and his two dog children for bringing him joy! What a pleasure it is to be back at Cape Rep! He looks forward to a wonderful show!

Chelsey is an associate artist at Cape Rep and has appeared in over a dozen performances. Favorite Cape Rep credits include: Next to Normal, Mamma Mia!, Evita, The Light in the Piazza, Jerusalem, and The Fantastical House of Maya Mouse. Bay Area credits: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Grease (Broadway by the Bay), Mamma Mia (Center Rep), Rock of Ages (PCRT), She Loves Me (RVP/Mountain Play) and Spamalot (Marin Shakes). She holds a BFA from Montclair State University. Chelsey is so excited to be a part of this beautiful show with the love of her life who she met here at Cape Rep almost 9 years ago. Love and thanks to Mo, this incredible cast and crew, and her greyhounds, Sirius and Bella.

Art Devine (Old Man) is a theater artist whose work as a playwright, director, actor, and designer has been enjoyed throughout Cape Cod, Boston and California. He was last seen at Cape Rep as Otto Godowsky in Indecent. Other acting credits include Shakespeare in Love, Peter and the Starcatcher, Rough Crossing, La Cage aux Folles, Mr. Burns, The Light in the Piazza, Jerusalem, Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone, Born Yesterday, The Full Monty, The Sunshine Boys, The Love Talker, The Lion in Winter (Cape Rep), The Seven Year Itch (Cape Playhouse’s Tribute to Lee Remick), Hamlet (San Diego Rep), Heart of Jade, Giggle and Scream, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Buried Child (WHAT), Rough Crossing, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Pirates of Penzance, The Good Doctor, Elizabeth the Queen, Godspell (APA), Peter Pan and Wendy, Dancing at Lughnasa (HJT). Jade Schuyler (Mrs. Boyle) Jade is thrilled to be returning to the Cape Rep stage where she was last seen in Dear Jack, Dear Louise in 2021. Some of her favorite Cape Cod stage credits include Rabbit Hole, The Full Monty, Regular Singing, Flowers in the Desert and the world premiere of The Tuna Goddess, which she also wrote. You can currently see her starring in the award winning film Red River Road alongside her husband and sons Shaw and Quinn, now available on all major streaming platforms.– wytshark.com

Paul Schuyler is thrilled to be back at Cape Rep after a nearly three year hiatus. His Cape Rep credits include Peter and the Starcatcher, Boundless and The Tuna Goddess. During his hiatus, he wrote, directed and co-starred in the feature film Red River Road (currently streaming on all major platforms), which he made with his wife Jade and sons Quinn and Shaw–all Cape Rep veterans.

Justin Patrick Brymer (Taylor/Tom/Waiter) Born in Los Angeles and raised in Salt Lake City, Justin joined the United States Coast Guard at 25. While stationed at Otis Air Force base here on the Cape Justin began his first foray onto the stage at Cape Cod Community College in productions of Visiting Mr. Green, The Tempest and Angels in America, as well as Sylvia at the Barnstable Comedy Club. Justin made his Cape Rep debut in the original production of Art Devine’s 9-Ball. TV: I (Almost) Got Away With It (Discovery Channel).

Aunt Dorothy/Leah (11/10-11/27)

Holly Hansen (Aunt Dorothy/Leah 11/10-11/27) Always happy to be performing, Holly was most recently seen onstage in The World Goes ‘Round (CCftA), as The Baker’s Wife in Eventide Theatre’s Into the Woods, and here at Cape Rep in Click, Clack, Moo and last summer’s Noises Off. Favorite Cape performance credits include: Much Ado About Nothing (CCftA), Urinetown (Tilden Arts), and The Odd Couple (CCftA). Ever grateful to be doing live theatre, and for her husband, Ari, who makes her crazy schedule totally worth it.

Maura Hanlon (Director) is the Associate Artistic Director at Cape Rep Theatre and is delighted to be with this lovely company of artists—we’ve had a ball. Mo’s most recent directorial credits include the remounting of Joanne Callum Powers’ Miss Delta Township, Tumacho, and Waiting for Ham with the 2022 Young Company. In 2021 she directed Noises Off, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and the world premiere of Miss Delta Township. Favorite directing credits include Edward Tulane, Indecent, Men on Boats, Failure: A Love Story, Jerusalem, Eurydice, Wintertime, The Rose Tattoo (Cape Rep) and Peter Pan and Wendy (HJT). A sometime-actor, she was last seen on stage at Cape Rep reprising her role as Rosie in Mamma Mia!, and Helen in Fun Home. She is a frequent sound designer (including for this show, Ken Ludwig’s Dear Jack, Dear Louise, My Name is Asher Lev, to name just a few), and an occasional playwright (Good Bye Mary Rose, Dinosaur Pirates from Outerspace!, which she also composed, and Alice in Wonderland, along with many adaptations for YoCo with Janine Perry). Mo is a Holy Cross grad, studied acting and directing at Trinity Rep Conservatory and received her MFA in directing from UCSD. Ryan McGettigan (Scenic Design) Ryan is a Houston-based scenic designer of theater, opera, and dance working across the country and Europe. He is the Resident Designer at Cape Rep Theatre in Brewster, MA as well as a Company Artist with Prague Shakespeare Company and the Classical Theatre Company of Houston. Regional Credits: Theatre under the Stars, Stages Repertory Theatre, Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Shakespeare & Company, Cape Rep, Abilene Shakespeare Festival, Legacy Theatre, Prague Shakespeare Company. Opera and Dance: Glimmerglass Festival, New Orleans Opera, Opera San Jose, HGOco, Open Dance Project, and the Houston Ballet.

Susan Nicholson (Lighting Design) Susan is northeast based Lighting Designer. Starting in 2005 she has been a part of over 35 productions as well as VetCo, Young Company, Footlight Fantasy and many benefits and special performances at Cape Rep. Favorite show credits include-Full Monty (the first time), Xanadu, UMPO, Merrily We Roll Along, Rough Crossing, Billy Elliot, and Boundless. She is an events lighting designer in NYC doing projects such as Hospitality at the US Open, John Wick 3 premier party, and various other Corporate Events and Parties. Robin McLaughlin (Costume Design) has been resident costume designer at Cape Rep off and on for many years. She returned from California for the summer season in 2017 to do Men on Boats and Billy Elliot the Musical, and decided to remain on the Cape. Tori is thrilled to continue her work with Cape Rep Theater with Prelude to a Kiss. Tori is a recent graduate of NYU Abu Dhabi’s theater program and is excited to be back in her home state working as a stage manager. She has dreams of being a lighting designer, but is eager to continue learning every aspect of theater!
