Summary

Set in the silent film world of slapstick routines, pratfalls, wild chases, and nailbiting moments, Mack & Mabel is the story of the tempestuous love affair of two silent film icons: director, Mack Sennet, the “King of Comedy” and the star comedienne, Mabel Normand.   Come listen to the spectacular soaring score that Jerry Herman (Mame, Hello Dolly, La Cage Aux Folles) claimed as his favorite.  It includes beautiful ballads, Time Heals Everything, I Won’t Send You Roses and rousing showstoppers, I Wanna Make The World Laugh and Tap Your Troubles Away.

‘Mack & Mabel’: Love amid the slapstick
September 22, 2012
‘The Jerry Herman musical, and what happens to its characters, is all about movie-making, and the small Tinseltown touches are just one of many things that make this Cape Rep Theatre production special…it’s all set to a wonderful score brought lushly to life by musical director Scott Storr.” – The Cape Cod Times

Silence Is Golden: ‘Mack & Mabel’ Boffo Musical At Cape Rep
September 27, 2012
“The music is enchanting. This cast of 12 sounds like double that. The dozen actors perform the slapstick, the dancing and the singing effortlessly and on a very grand scale. Audiences loved all of them; the filming of the horseback riding, the bathing beauties, the Keystone cops, the pie-throwing episode and more. The superb ensemble included all standout actors. Their actions sometimes were literally louder than words, and the ensemble singing was extraordinary. Musical ensemble numbers abound and it’s hard to pick a favorite. “Tap Your Troubles Away” (performed by Brook, and the two Paquins) was a true highlight which brought spontaneous hoots and hollers from the audience with the very first tap. Cape Rep’s Mack & Mabel is the complete package: brilliant performances, sparkling song and dance numbers, and an intriguing storyline. Don’t miss it.” – Cape Cod Chronicle
